Kelley Baby Sock

Kelley Heel Baby Socks

Materials: 20 gms of fingering weight wool, 2.5 mm double pointed needles (dpns)

Cast on 36 sts and divide evenly onto 3 dpns.
Join and work in k1, p1 rib for 36 rounds.
Heel:
At beg of next round sl1, k23 onto one dpn.
1. k1, ssk, k18, k2tog, k1
2. purl
3. k1, ssk, k16, k2tog, k1
4. purl
5. k1, ssk, k14, k2tog, k1
6. purl
repeat as set to k1, ssk, k2tog, k1--do not turn and purl back.
Divide the 4 sts onto 2 dpns. Work now begins between these two needles, at the center of the heel.
With the first needle, needle one, pick up 10 sts along right side of heel. Knit across instep (needle 2). With the last dpn (needle 3), pick up 10 sts along left side of heel and knit the last 2 sts from heel shaping.
Work in rounds on all 36 sts for 36 rows.
Divide for toe shaping:
Move the last 3 sts of needle one and the first 3 sts of needle 3 to needle 2. There should now be 18 sts on needle 2 and 9 sts on needles one and three.
1. needle 1: knit to 3 sts from end, k2tog, k1
needle 2: knit 1, ssk, k to 3 sts from end, k2tog, k1
needle 3: k1, ssk, k to end.
2. knit
Repeat rows 1 and 2 three times then repeat row 1 only until there are 8 sts remaining.
Graft sts together using kitchener stitch.
